IDS5 Digital ATIS provides a high quality and fully automated replacement to manually-produced ATIS broadcasts, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The IDS5 Digital ATIS System utilizes StarCaster ATIS® Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology, developed by STR-SpeechTech and distributed by Systems Atlanta, to provide the ultimate clear, natural voice that is essential for critical message broadcasting. The TTS component of the system uses a pre-recorded digitized Voice Database to produce high-quality voice output from a text input. The Digital ATIS system resides on the same workstation as IDS5 thereby eliminating the need for an additional workstation and display. IDS5 notifies users of new weather which is automatically transferred to the Digital ATIS. Upon broadcast of the new ATIS, the StarCaster software automatically updates IDS5 with the new ATIS code. IDS5 Digital ATIS, as packaged and distributed by SAI, has been deployed at multiple U.S. Air Force and Army facilities.
