The Integrated Dissemination/Display System,
IDS5, is the latest generation software product of Systems
Atlanta, Inc. IDS5 has been designed to meet the information
needs of all users while simplifying the creation / design
process for IDS5 system administrators. IDS5 provides rapid
access to a wide array of information from multiple sources,
integrated for display on a single information dissemination and
display system.
IDS5’s software tools allow local system administrators to
create, manage, and maintain a user-defined, custom database
appropriate to the needs of all interconnected sites. Up to
100,000,000 display pages can be created. IDS5 provides tools
for database organization as well as hyperlinks for easy access
to data within a graphical user interface.
Each page may contain an indefinite number of textual, image, or
graphical objects. Since the information contained in an IDS5
database is totally user-defined, the layout, type, colors, and
amounts of information that reside on any given page are site
specific.
Data from a variety of internal and external sources can be
consolidated onscreen in many combinations and formats.
Reference data, such as charts, maps, approach plates,
procedures, etc., can be integrated with dynamic data collected
by interfaces to other status sources. Multiple windows may be
open onscreen, allowing data from a number of separate IDS5
pages or separate software applications to be displayed
simultaneously.
Examples of IDS5 external data collection and display capability
include, but are not limited to: satellite weather imagery,
graphical weather products, METAR/TAF weather products, wind
shear alerts, runway visibility, altimeter settings (barometric
pressure), official time, etc. Displaying real-time data from
external sources through IDS5 eliminates the need for multiple
displays, freeing space on the user’s console and creating a
single focal point for obtaining information.
Workstations running IDS5 may be located within a single
facility, throughout an airport, and/or in a variety of
satellite facilities located over a wide geographical area.
Interconnectivity of these workstations allows information
exchange between air traffic control and other aviation /
non-aviation groups that need to share data.
