Systems Atlanta, Inc. has supplied IDS4
equipment in support of the Bethel-Fairbanks Alaska Capstone
Initiative for the Bethel Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta area of
Southwest Alaska. The Capstone project will expand the existing
Fairbanks IDS4 hub system to support an additional approach
control position at the Fairbanks TRACON and add a remote site
at the Bethel ATCT. The Capstone positions will benefit from
weather and other critical flight data afforded by the Alaska
IDS4 wide area network, which links numerous sites for
information sharing. These include the Anchorage and Fairbanks
ATCT’s & TRACON’s, Anchorage ARTCC, Merrill Field ATCT,
Elmendorf and Eielson AFBs, Ted Stevens Anchorage International
Airport Operations, and Japan Airlines Anchorage Flight
Operations station. The Alaska IDS4 system integrates real-time
status data from various sources. Weather observations collected
from multiple ASOS locations and the Digital Aviation Weather
Network (DAWN) are distributed throughout the network system. |
