Emergency Management Information Display System
Systems Atlanta's advanced Integrated Data Display and Dissemination System is available today for the emergency management facilities.
EMIDS, powered by SAI’s advanced IDS5 technology, provides information management for emergency management facilities.
- EMIDS is specifically designed to meet the information needs of emergency management facilities, such as Emergency Operations Centers (EOC), Crash/Fire Response Crews, 911 Dispatch Facilities, Fire/Medical Dispatch Facilities, Disaster Preparedness, and Military Security Forces.
- EMIDS combines external source data with manual and reference data onto a single display platform.
- EMIDS distributes the combined data throughout a network of workstations and facilities to enhance operational efficiency and situational awareness.
- EMIDS can include, but is not limited to, Quick Reaction Checklists (QRCs), emergency procedures, maps, charts, Entry Authorization Lists (EAL), building and aircraft diagrams, HAZMAT information, cordon areas, run cards, and facility specific material.

EMIDS in the Field
In the Emergency Control Center (ECC) at
Vandenberg AFB, California, EMIDS provides live weather data such as
wind, temperature/dew point, relative humidity, weather warnings,
watches and advisories, and forecasts via the N-TFS and ASOS
interfaces. This data is continuously displayed and
immediately available to the Fire Department and Security Forces.
Additionally, the Vandenberg AFB EMIDS is connected to the Control
Tower, Airfield Management, Range Control and Command Post IDS5
network. Airfield, airspace, and emergency information, such as
the runway in use, airfield activities and status, FPCON measures
and aircraft flight schedules are immediately viewable which allows
all agencies to achieve better situational awareness and more
efficiently deploy manpower and equipment resources.
At Alpena ANGB Security Forces Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC), EMIDS
has streamlined daily tasks and improved the efficiency and
situational awareness of their operations by successfully
integrating EMIDS in their facilities. Virtually every
information management procedure/policy used to conduct its daily
mission was integrated into the EMIDS database, providing them with
the capability to access and disseminate procedures, policies,
checklists, contractor access lists, pass-on logs, shift change
notes, and reference materials (the list is indefinite) among
any of its functional areas simultaneously.
The EMIDS solution is exactly what Alpena CRTC needed. They
are no longer reliant upon paper-copy checklists, reference
materials and repetitive phone calls to pass the same information
internally. Processes are significantly more efficient as a
result of the EMIDS solution and they report tremendous satisfaction
with its adaptability, as stated by the Security Forces Training
Supervisor, “I have found the system is easily adaptable and
expandable to suit the needs of any user who requires data on
demand.”
Features & Capabilities
In addition to the capabilities mentiond above, EMIDS can be configured to receive
information from multiple FAA and DoD sources. Information includes runways in use,
graphical weather products, text based weather products including wind shear data,
live wind, temperature/dew point, relative humidity, forecasts, runway visual range,
altimeter, and official time source. Displaying real-time data from these systems through EMIDS
eliminates the need for multiple displays, freeing space at the
user’s console and creating a single focal point for obtaining
information.
Displays reference, manually entered, and external source data via a common set of display pages.
Allows creation and customization of up to 100 million screen-sized “pages” for data display.
Each page may contain an indefinite number of textual, image, or graphical objects, including
hyperlinks to other locations within the database.
Supports the inclusion of data in several forms, including text, images, and PDF files
Automation can be used to update the extensive library of documentation that the database
may contain.
Connects an unlimited number of EMIDS workstations within a single facility, throughout an
airport, and within a variety of remote facilities located over a wide geographical area.
Provides immediate distribution of data from multiple sources over an entire network of
workstations and/or facilities.
Stores and instantaneously updates data on each workstation, ensuring fast access times and
a high level of data integrity.
Supports visual and audible alerts based on changes to critical data, as defined by the user.
Supports touch screen, trackball, and mouse capabilities.
Runs on Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003, and
Server 2008.
Capable of launching/opening third party software, for example, Microsoft Word and Excel, installed on
the same hardware platform by means of on-screen buttons.
Supports local and wide area TCP/IP networks.
Has built-in security features that prevent unauthorized changes and access to the system.
